How To Design The Ultimate Home Office

 Ultimate Home Office

Working from home is no longer something only freelancers do. More businesses are starting to see the value in allowing their employees to work part or full-time from home.

It’s great news for you. The commute to and from work is a short walk down the hall, and you always have freshly brewed coffee on hand. The only problem, your home office space is drab and uninviting. Even if your home office is crammed into a room the size of a closet, there are a few design tricks that will bring the space to life.

Start with the Desk and Chair

Every home office requires a desk and chair, and you’re not limited on style. Forget about the standard workstations. It’s your home office, so go for your dream desk. Look at drafting tables or think about repurposing a vanity table. Some come with a larger center space with two smaller raised surfaces on either side.

You only need to check two things when you are looking for your dream desk. Make sure the desk fits in your space, and it has the surface area you need for all of your tech gear.

The same rules apply to your office chair. Get the one you love. If you find a comfortable and supportive one, think about getting it in a bright color. It’s the perfect way to blend creativity and function.

Think About Storage Space

Even if you aren’t constantly buried under files and assorted paperwork, you still need some storage in your home office.

Metal filing cabinets are an option, but it’s not the only one. Wander through local antique stores you may find something that will replace a metal filing cabinet. Antique postal boxes are an option. You can also use old mail slots from a hotel or post office.

Floating bookshelves give the room an airy look without taking up any floor space. Mix and match the wooden shelves for a trendy look. You can also add personality with bookends.

Lighting

Even if your office has a window, you still need adequate lighting, and your options are almost endless.

From classic or modern to contemporary or avant garde, there is a lamp in every design style. Desk lamps are almost a must-have. You can also choose a small wall light. Ceiling lights are another option, and you can combine them with a ceiling fan.

Some home offices use laser projectors for presentations. Offices with windows will want to look at window treatments. Automatic blinds are a great option. You can also choose sheers or patterned curtains.

Add a Personal Touch

The size of your office doesn’t matter. You can always find room to add some personality to a space. A few pieces of colored glass on the window sill is an idea, along with a patterned vase or potted plants.

Don’t forget about the walls. Hang a few prints. Let your creativity flow, after all, you’re creating your new work space.

Conclusion

With all of the time you’re going to spend in your home office, shouldn’t it be a warm and welcoming space? With some creativity and your imagination, you can reinvent your home office.
